Visas for visiting the UK

If you are attending the WorldForum 2008 and travelling to Cardiff from abroad it is possible that you will require a visa.

To find out if you require a visa to enter the UK, visit the visas services area of the official British Government website, and enter details of your nationality and where you are currently living.

Applying for a visa
If you are living in a country where you do need a visa it’s likely that you can apply in person or online, but you MUST check the process for your own country which you can do here.

The application process also includes taking biometric information (fingerprints and photograph) to reduce to reduce identity theft and speed up the process. You may also be asked for proof of your invitation to the conference; please email worldforum2008@childreninwales.org.uk if you require evidence of invitation.

Visas for the UK cost £65 and normally take about 4 weeks but ensure you leave plenty of time in the event that this takes longer than expected. We also recommend that you don’t organise your travel until you have received your visa.

The website also includes an array of guidance on organising a visa to the UK.

If you are eligible to apply for a visa online this can be done here

Visas for young people (under 18's)
Visas are just as important for children and young people as they are for adults, and proof is also needed of suitable care and travel arrangements for their stay in the UK, and of parental or guardian consent to them travelling. Find out more about visas for under 18's here
